The University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine (CUSDM) invites qualified dentist candidates to apply for the Open Rank faculty position in the Department of Community Dentistry and Population Health at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine.

Community Dentistry and Population Health is the department home for the community-based dental education program, the Advanced Clinical Training Service (ACTS) Program. This CUSDM program is nationally recognized for its success in placing students across the State of Colorado in over 44 practice locations, in rural and urban underserved areas.

Duties of this position will include teaching in the behavioral health and geriatric dentistry courses of the Doctor of Dental Surgery program as well as engaging dental preceptors across Colorado who hosts dental students for community-based clinical care. The Assistant Director of the ACTS program reports to the Chair of the Department of Community Dentistry and Population Health.

The successful candidate will be an excellent clinical educator who possesses the ability to support a strong and vibrant program community engagement program, has expertise in geriatric dentistry, and a commitment to working with underserved communities. In addition, a successful candidate should be able to perform didactic and clinical education, service activities, mentor students and participate in some interprofessional and scholarly activities.

The School of Dental Medicine is located on the Anschutz Medical Campus, one of the nation’s newest comprehensive academic health sciences centers that includes Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Public Health, a College of Nursing, a Comprehensive Cancer Center, and two nationally ranked hospitals. The Anschutz Medical Campus is recognized as a leader in interprofessional education, collaborative research and clinical care programs.

Salary and Benefits:

Job Family: Clinical Assistant Professor (C/T) – 1213

Salary Range: $120,000 – $145,000

Job Family: Clinical Associate Professor (C/T) – 1212

Salary Range: $145,000 – $175,000

Job Family: Clinical Professor (C/T) – 1211

Salary Range: $175,000 – $225,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Assistant Professor:
  • A DDS/DMD degree from a CODA accredited U.S. dental school or foreign equivalent
  • Periodontics board certified or eligible for certification, with preference going to candidates with a Master’s or Ph.D. degree.
  • Eligibility for a Colorado dental license
  • At this rank, applicants will have some successful teaching experience and will be expected to teach and/or provide clinical care.
  • Associate Professor:
  • A DDS/DMD degree from a CODA accredited U.S. dental school or foreign equivalent
  • Periodontics board certified or eligible for certification, with preference going to candidates with a Master’s or Ph.D. degree.
  • Eligibility for a Colorado dental license
  • At this rank, applicants will be well qualified to teach and/or provide clinical care with considerable demonstrated evidence of successful teaching and demonstrated leadership and service.
  • Professor:
  • A DDS/DMD degree from a CODA accredited U.S. dental school or foreign equivalent
  • Periodontics board certified or eligible for certification, with preference going to candidates with a Master’s or Ph.D. degree.
  • Eligibility for a Colorado dental license
  • At this rank, applicants will demonstrate outstanding accomplishments in teaching, and/or providing clinical care, a record of leadership, and a meritorious leadership and service record.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • The successful candidate will be an excellent clinical educator who possesses the ability to support a strong and vibrant program community engagement program, has expertise in geriatric dentistry, and a commitment to working with underserved communities
  • Experience in educational innovation to include use of technology in education with preference given to those with previous teaching and research experience
  • Successful candidates will have experience and demonstrate inclusivity while working in a diverse academic, research and clinical community.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational and communication skills are required.
