Summary
Position Summary
The Registered Dietitian directs and coordinates nutritional care to patients in inpatient and outpatient settings. Performs nutritional assessments; develops and implements care plans, education of patients, staff communication with physicians and health team members. Serves as a facilitator for all nutrition-related patient care needs.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or closely related field
License/Certifications: Active Maine State Registered Dietitian license; Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) required
Experience: N/A
Excellent knowledge of nutrition principles and diet therapy in order to accurately assess patients’ medical and nutritional status and to formulate care plans
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with patients and other members of the healthcare team
Skill in time management, problem-solving, multitasking, prioritizing and nutritional care coordination
Ability to respond the changing workload based on patient census and to direct, supervise and evaluate nutritional care needs in order to individualize nutritional care provided to patients
Ability to maintain professional manner even under stressful situations
Proficient computer and presentation skills
