We are looking for an Anesthesia Technician for the Operating Room at St. Joseph Hospital Orange.
Location: Orange, CA
Work Schedule: On Call/ Per Diem
Shift: 8-hour, Days
Anesthesia Technician assists the Anesthesiologist in clinical settings such as: the Operating Room, Labor and Delivery, Interventional and Diagnostic Radiology, Endoscopy and Ambulatory Surgery Suites. The anesthesia tech must have a thorough knowledge of the set-up, operation and troubleshooting of anesthesia delivery systems, monitors and ancillary devices. Must demonstrate practical knowledge and expertise in all general areas of anesthesia, guidelines, policies and safety requirements as determined by all regulatory compliance organizations.
Performs first level maintenance on anesthesia equipment. Cleans, disinfects, stocks, calibrate, test, inspect and maintains the routine anesthesia equipment and supplies.
Assists Anesthesiologist in clinical settings such as: Operating Room (OR) Labor and Delivery (L&D), Interventional Radiology (IR), Endoscopy and Ambulatory Surgery.
Prepares and assembles transducer lines and equipment necessary for invasive monitoring as necessary or as requested. Has a working knowledge of hemodynamics.
Assists with operation and demonstrates detailed technical knowledge and troubleshooting ability for anesthesia delivery system, scavenger system, gas analyzer, EKG, pulse oximeter and rapid infusion device.
Assists Anesthesiologist as requested:
Preparation and draping of patient for invasive monitoring.
Assist in invasive line insertion, regional anesthesia and fiberoptic intubation during difficult airway management.
Demonstrates speed and timeliness in all duties, particularly in preparation for emergencies and trauma procedures.
Demonstrates dependability of participation in on-call coverage.
Demonstrates knowledge of guidelines, policies and safety requirements as determined by relevant regulatory compliance organizations.
Participates in department Quality Improvement; development and continuous updating of departmental policies and procedures as it relates to anesthesia technical staff and performance duties.
Recognizes and adheres to Joint Commission National Safety Goals.
Maintains an inventory of equipment used by anesthesia to track repairs, loaners and demos.
Understands medical terminology as it relates to anesthesia patient care.
Understands basic aseptic technique, infection control, and standard precautions.
Understands limitations of roles or practice area.
Demonstrates an understanding of the anesthesia equipment and related supplies.
Ability to delegate responsibilities to other members of the anesthesia team.
Demonstrates ability to coordinate the daily routine of the technical anesthesia staff.
Preferred knowledge of invasive line, set-up, and preparation.
Minimum Position Requirements:
Experience: 3 years experience as an Anesthesia Technician.
Licenses/Certifications: Basic Life Support.
Preferred Position Qualifications:
Education: Coursework/Training – Graduate of American Society of Anesthesia Technologist Program (ASATT).
